The Polar Arts Program
The Polar Arts Program is a truly unique global project bringing together artists from many nations, working in a range of art practices dedicated to experience and expression of the unsurpassed wilderness of the Earth’s Polar regions…
Polar Art Information We are now entering our 5th year of managing and offering residencies to the Arctic and Antarctic. Through the ongoing support of our client Quark Expeditions, we have been able to offer a diverse group of artists from 16 different countries the opportunity to embark on over 130 residencies to the Polar regions and beyond.
Thanks to the artist in residence program, companies like Quark Expeditions, their passengers travelling to the Arctic and Antarctic have been privilege to the experience of the Polar regions from another perspective – that of the creative artist. In addition to seeing the Polar regions through the eyes of the artist, passengers have themselves participated in art and photographic workshops, onboard gallery tours, photographic competitions, artist lectures and at sea celebrations as well.
Artists have been able to successfully sell their work onboard the ships and develop interest from potential buyers once home. Polar artists returning from their residencies have gone on to develop unique and successful creative projects, receiving much acclaim for their work.
